The market will take place on the second Saturday of each month from now through September.

In a first for Mullica Hill, a farmer’s market will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continue on the second Saturday of each month until September.

The Main Street market will feature several farms as vendors offering freshly grown food and organic based goods, including organic meats and dog treats and microgreens. Businesses along the street will also hold special pop-up sales.

The goal of the event is not only spotlight the varied businesses on Main Street, but those outside of it, specifically Mullica Hill’s farmer population, according to Farm House Design owner and event organizer Hazel Dilsaver.

“We want to highlight all of Harrison Township,” she said. “We wanted to support our local farmers and we’ve been wanting to do this for years. (The price of) everything is up, and we wanted to give them some recognition and relief. We offered them a small fee to join the market.”

The Main Street market will feature a total of 24 vendors, according to Dilsaver, among them food trucks and local artisans. Local musician Joe Grasso will provide live music.

Dilsaver organized the event with help from her other business, MH Events, and two other Main Street businesses, Brainstorm Books and The Tasting Room. Though Harrison Township authorities did not plan the market, they did give those three businesses permission to hold and advertise it.

“We wanted to be able to control who we brought in, because we wanted to focus on the layout for the event,” Dilsaver explained. “They’ve given us permission to put banners and yard signs for the event. We want to get the word out about it.”

The market is being sponsored by Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty – Nancy Kowalik group, the Four Seasons Garden Center, JD Paving, Kennedy Wine Sellers and J. Downs Law.

Parking for the Main Street market will be available along area streets and in lots at 32, 41, 42 and 43 S. Main St. The other dates for the event are on the following Saturdays: July 13, Aug. 10 and Sept. 14.

“We want everyone to come out to support our farmers, shop local and support our stores,” Dilsaver said. “We’re just trying to support our community.”
