The Delran school community has created a profile of what it wants from the next superintendent of schools.
The profile was put together by Strategic Educational Advantage LLC after the board of education solicited input from staff, parents, students, and the community via focus groups, interviews and an online survey. The data was collected and analyzed in order to develop a profile of the successful candidate, who will have the skill set to work with all constituencies in the district.
Delran schools educate approximately 3,000 students from pre-K to 12 in four buildings. The board is seeking candidates who will:
- Possess a sophisticated understanding of teaching and learning to promote the importance of continuous improvement
- Foster a positive and professional climate of mutual trust and respect among faculty, staff, students, administrators, board members and the community
- Be a leader who is inspirational, motivational and caring and builds on the successes of the district
- Demonstrate leadership and fiscal experience
- Create/develop/maintain partnerships with families and the school community
The deadline to apply for the superintendent role was March 17. The board is holding upcoming special meetings to interview superintendent candidates on April 2, 11 and 22.
Mike Kuchar and Brian Zychowski of Strategic Educational Advantage LLC have been leading the recruitment effort. Dr. Lisa Della Vecchia is serving a one-year term as interim head that is effective through June 30. She transitioned into the role after Superintendent Dr. Brian Brotschul left the district last summer.
