The month of November has been designated Model Railroad Month nationwide for the last 20 years. In the South Jersey area, several model railroads can be seen without charge in private homes and clubs to promote the hobby.
In Deptford, the Oak Valley Railroad at 835 Vermont Ave. (not the Oak Valley section) will be open Sunday, Nov. 5, and Saturday, Nov. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. The model s HO scale, 36 by 26 feet and detailed with towns named after sections of the township. There is also a scale model replica of Deptford’s First and Finest hot-air balloon. Six to eight trains will be operating.
