Six-year-old hosts book drive

Book collection sites to be placed throughout South Jersey

Ken R.E.A.D. Books, led by Cherry Hill resident, two-time published author and 6-year-old CEO Kennedi Rae Gibson, will hold it first, community-wide holiday book drive through November.

Gibson, a first grader at James Johnson Elementary School, has a passion for reading and a vision to make a positive impact on the lives of others. She hopes to collect 1,000 new and gently-used children’s and adult books during the drive that will go to its partner in the effort, BookSmiles in Pennsauken.

Gibson has been reading since she was 3. She believes books have the transformational power to touch lives and inspire individuals of all ages. Her mother and assistant, Eustacia A. English, expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her daughter’s mission and the holiday book drive.

“We are sincerely thankful to all the individuals, schools, and businesses that have shown enthusiasm for Kennedi’s book drive,” she said. “Your support will undoubtedly make a real difference in the lives of those in need.”

To participate in the drive, drop off books at any of the five following locations:

  • Cherry Hill Fire Dept: 1100 Marlkress Road, Cherry Hill
  • Echelon Health & Fitness: 1160 White Horse Road, Voorhees 
  • Jazz Unlimited: Route 73, #201 South, Marlton 
  • Juice Capitol: 1031 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood 
  • Yoga Revive: 230 North Maple Ave. #B11/12, Marlton
