Multiple juveniles arrested on burglary and other charges

Five males – four juveniles and an 18-year-old – were charged with burglary and other crimes after their arrests by Harrison Township police late last month.

Two of the juveniles and the adult were also wanted in other jurisdictions in connection with suspected vehicle thefts, according to police.

Police were called to the area of Windsor and Chelsea roads in the township’s   Leigh Court Estates Development at about 4 a.m. on July 30, after a report of several males in the area wearing masks. Officers spotted what was later identified as a stolen 2022 Kia Sorento with one of the suspicious males sleeping inside.

That suspect – a 15-year-old – is a resident of Middletown, Delaware, who was already wanted in that state’s New Castle County. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice, conspiracy to commit burglary and receiving stolen property, police said.

After additional police calls about suspicious males, four more Delaware residents  were arrested – including a 13-year-old, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, all from  Wilmington – with one also sought in Chester, Pennsylvania. The adult was identified as Semaj Lloyd, also a Wilmington resident sought in New Castle County, according to police.

The arrestees were all charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary,  with the three sought out of state charged as fugitives from justice and turned over to their respective jurisdictions. They are suspected of being involved in the theft of several vehicles in the tri-state area, police reported.

Along with Harrison police, the case was investigated by the Mantua and East Greenwich police departments, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and the West Deptford K-9 unit.
