NJ Turnpike car accident report

On Sunday July 30, Tacoma Fire Company along with the Woolwich and Westville Fire Departments and Gloucester County EMS were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike at the 23.2 mile marker southbound for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

Squad 921 arrived to find a single vehicle crash for which the vehicle struck the turn-around median guardrail at the 23.3 mile marker and then overturned and landed off the road into the wooded area at the 23.2 mile marker.

The crew used Squad 921 to set up a blocker to protect the scene and then its crew tended to the single occupant of the vehicle. Pieces of the vehicle were missing from the initial collision with the center median allowing full access to the driver.

Firefighters and EMTs on Squad 921 provided medical care to the driver until the arrival of EMS. The remainder of the crew secured the vehicle and then assisted EMS with helping the patient to the awaiting EMS unit.
