Clearview Junior Wrestling will host a Paint and Sip fundraiser on Thursday July 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at its Mantua building on Main Street, behind police headquarters.
The event is intended as a night out for both moms with wrestlers on the team and those who support the program in general.
“It’s a … great way to support the program,” said junior wrestling Secretary Megan Battaglia. “Even for people that don’t have kids to compete and just want to support us can participate in it.”
The fundraiser will be held in the building’s main wrestling room. Each participant will receive a board that is $50 to purchase and can be painted by the moms to express a theme. One board will have a Clearview Junior Wrestling theme to celebrate the sport, another will be a welcome sign and a third will be holiday themed to mark Christmas in July.
Attendees are free to customize their themed board with a variety of colors, stains and bows provided. An instructor will also be on hand to help.
“The proceeds from the event will go towards the program,” Battaglia said. “These include things like equipment, maintaining the building and room improvements to provide a better experience for the kids and get them the most prepared when the season starts.”
Two local businesses from Mantua and Mullica Hill – the two towns encompassed by the Clearview school district – will also be at the fundraiser to provide food baskets for participants. From Mantua is Devour Desserts, a dessert-based food arrangement business. Mullica Hill’s entry is Gathered to Graze, a catering and workshop business.
Both businesses will donate 50% of their profits from the event to the wrestling programs.
“It’s an arrangement that is good for all of us,” said Battaglia. “It helps get their name out there and we support them, just as they support us.”
Clearview Junior Wrestling is a member of the South Jersey Wrestling League. Registration for the season is currently open to kids 5 to 14.
