The Deptford library will host its second trivia night on Thursday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m.
Trivia subjects will range from pop culture to sports to history and to movies. The event will be run by reference librarian Michelle Burns, who was inspired by a similar event.
“My friends and I went to a trivia night at a library in Camden County last summer, and I thought, ‘I can do that,’” she said. “So, I put together some questions and we had a bunch of fun last time. We will have teams of two to four people, and anyone is welcome to come. I encourage families to come, because the kids might be able to help the adults with some of the Disney questions.”
A maximum of six teams is allowed because of space issues, according to Burns. The event is free, but registration is required by emailing Burns at [email protected]. She will then distribute a registration form that can be filled out and sent back. Members of the winning teams will each receive Wawa gift cards.
Burns explained that there will be a wide variety of questions for people in the contest, which she acknowledged should be better than the first trivia night.
“The biggest challenge in creating a trivia night like this is that you want the questions to be a challenge, but not too hard,” Burns noted. “It’s no fun if no one knows any of the answers, but they can’t be too easy either.
“You want to have a winner,” she added. “It’s difficult to walk that line, and my first time around, I think I made the questions much too difficult. But I learned from that and hopefully we’ll have some good teams and good competition this time.”
The date for another trivia night at the library has yet to be determined.
