I am honored to serve as your new Mayor. As a 30-year resident who’s served on the Township Committee for the past fifteen years (and as Deputy Mayor for the last seven years), it’s a welcoming opportunity to head our Township in this top leadership role.
First and foremost, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those who I haven’t already had the pleasure of meeting.
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Diane for 30 years, and we’ve raised both our lovely daughters, Brittany and Ashley here in Mantua. Both attended and graduated from the Mantua and Clearview School systems. I’m a retired Chief of Police who spent the vast majority of my career in administration. Since retiring from law enforcement in January 2016, I’ve been a small business owner. I have a master’s degree in Public Administration and graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. I also previously served on our local BOE for five years, serving as both Vice-President and President.
Secondly, since receiving inquiries, I’d like to explain how one becomes the Mayor in Mantua Township. Mantua Township operates under the “Township Committee ” form of municipal government and consists of five members elected at-large through partisan elections each November. Members of the Township Committee serve staggered three-year terms and reorganize annually during which the Mayor and Deputy-Mayor are elected amongst the members of our Township Committee.
Finally, as the Mayor of the Township of Mantua, it’s certainly an honor to be able to provide a weekly message in the Mantua Sun. Through this platform, and others, a main priority will be to enhance communication from our Township Committee to you, our incredible Mantua Township family.
Please follow us on our official Township of Mantua website at www.mantuatownship.com and on both our official Township of Mantua Facebook and Instagram Pages. These platforms along with our newly minted Township of Mantua YouTube Channel are all great sources for you to obtain up-to-date and accurate information about our community meetings, events, programs, proclamations and awards, etc.
For those of you who are not computer savvy and are not on social media, the official “Mantua Township Newsletter” will be mailed quarterly this year, instead of semi-annually. This is being done in an effort to get township information disseminated in a more timely fashion.
On behalf of myself, Deputy-Mayor Pete Scirrotto and the entire Township Committee, we look forward to serving you with honesty, integrity and trustful leadership.
