The Clearview Regional High School District held its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 5, a session that included the swearing in of three members to its board of education.
“Joe Schwab and Bryan Quenzel are returning to the board, and Jennifer Buckman is joining the board,” announced school Superintendent John Horchak III.
Schwab and Quenzel were reelected to the board in the November race, the results of which were announced at the meeting. Representing Harrison Township, Schwab got 4,021 votes, or 98.3 percent of ballots, according to the Gloucester County Board of Elections. Quenzel, who represented Mantua, got 4,545 votes, or 93.3 percent of ballots. Both towns are part of the Clearview district
Newcomer Buckman also represents Mantua, represented by five board members, with four representing Harrison Township. She, Schwab and Quenzel will serve three-year terms on the board.
The meeting also saw the appointment of the Clearview board’s president and vice president for 2023: Scott Muscarella remains in the top job, and Quenzel will replace Greg Fuller as VP, according to Horchak. Fuller remains a board member.
The reorganization session marked the beginning of what appears to be an important year ahead in the Clearview district.
“As we move into the second half of this school year, we are looking forward to continuing our plans for academic, co-curricular (including athletics and student activities) and facility improvements,” noted Horchak.
“The ongoing monitoring of the plans that are currently in place for the remainder of this school year will drive the planning efforts and subsequent year’s goals as we craft the budget for the school year starting September of 2023.”
The superintendent said academic offerings will be expanded to include an additional advanced placement course in math, visual and amp; performing arts classes (music composition and guitar seminar); theater/dramatics classes; and a dual credit agreement with the University of Delaware for an entrepreneurship course.
New dual credit courses – all AP offerings – are computer science, macroeconomics, microeconomics, physics and forensics.
The next board of education meeting is scheduled for Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
