For the second time since it was interrupted by the pandemic two years ago, Mantua Township will host its annual winter festival on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Chestnut Branch Park.
“We have it once a year and we do the tree lighting in the circle of the park,” Mayor Pete Scirrotto said of the event. “I think we’ll get a good turnout; we’ll probably see around 400 or 500 people there, but it’s hard to say for certain.”
The festival is a free event and is open to all ages. Along with the tree lighting, there will be a variety of activities and attractions, including live music, food vendors, rides and fireworks to light up the night sky. There will also be appearances by the mayor; other members of the township committee; and, naturally, Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“I like to see the tree lighting, and it’s nice to see the kids get a kick out of it,” said Scirrotto of the festival. “They’re just laughing and smiling and just having a good time.
“It’s a nice event for people to come to.”
The festival has been a popular event for several years and has attracted participants from neighboring Wenonah and Pitman.
Winter festival hours will be 5 to 9 p.m., with a rain date of Friday, Dec. 2.
