Richwood UMC to host its annual cookie sale

Event raises funds for the township congregation’s activities

The township’s Richwood United Methodist Church will hold its annual cookie sale on Dec. 11 at its hall on Richwood Road.

Proceeds from the sale of homemade and prepackaged products will go back to the church to support its events and charities.

We feature thousands of cookies, both pre boxed and pick-your-own,” said church administrator Mildred Herman. “We usually sell over 250 pounds and often sell out before noon.  The event also features vendors that sell cash-and-carry crafts and gifts. We also sell breakfast and lunch foods.”

To prepare for the sale, the church will have an in-house bake day on Nov. 12 where volunteers bake the cookies that will be sold. Unlike the sale, the bake day is not open to the public.

Items that can be bought from vendors will include woodworking, ceramics, diamond canvas painting, handmade wreaths, knitted scarves and hats, crocheted dish towels and potholders, paparazzi jewelry, scented candles, Avon products and handmade gifts made by church member Laura Campbell.

“I’d say we’ve been holding this for over 20 years,” Herman said of the sale event. “We usually have between 15 to 20 vendors come and probably 150 to 200 customers.”

The cookie sale will take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Attendees will need to bring cash for purchases. For more information, visit the church Facebook page and its website for news and updates.
