Free lecture at Richwood Academy Cultural Center, Sunday Oct. 9 3 p.m.

Modernizing medicine: patients, physicians, and medical institutions in the 19th century Delaware River Valley.  Join Dr. Nicole Schroeder, a historian and educator at Kean University, to dive into the world of local medicine in the 19th century. 

The Delaware River Valley led the nation in hospital growth in the 1800s, establishing some of the most noteworthy institutions in the world. Philadelphia soon became a hub for medical students, practitioners and researchers. The concentration of medicine in the city reverberated outward into the Delaware Valley as well.
