The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional women in their final year of high school to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.

Ben Abdallah is involved in student government, the National Honor Society, the Diversity Inclusion Council, DECA, the Principal Advisory Group, the N.J. Department of Education Virtual Student Roundtable, and three varsity sports teams. She chairs the Social Action Committee for the Girls Leadership Council at the Alice Paul Institute, a nonprofit organization established to further the legacy of suffragist Alice Paul and her work for gender equality.

She is also a three-year attendee of the Global Leadership Summit of Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that gives girls the opportunity to channel their energy and compassion in support of U.N. programs that help the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

In the fall, Ben Abdallah will begin a Dual Bachelor of Arts Program at Columbia University in New York City and Sciences Po in France.

P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women helping women reach for the stars for more than 150 years. Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 119,000 women pursue educational goals by providing over $398 million in grants, scholarships, awards and loans. Through membership, the P.E.O. Sisterhood has brought together more than half a million women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education while supporting and motivating them.
