Mantua Township’s committee meeting was open to the public on Oct. 18, when a proclamation was made to recognize October as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The primary ordinance addressed was to amend the current Mantua Joint Municipal Court and authorize the participation of West Deptford and National Park into the court. After another ordinance that included a motion to amend the land-use fees in the township, seasonal resolutions were made, and a contract with Mike’s Hardscapes was authorized for the supply, installation and maintenance of holiday lighting at Chestnut Branch and McCarson parks.
A contract with Wizards Festival of Fun Inc. was also authorized to provide entertainment for the upcoming tree lighting and winter festival at Chestnut Branch Park.
In other business, Dan Hauss was appointed emergency management coordinator for a three-year term, effective Nov. 20. Minor resolutions were made that refunded properties for tax overpayments.
Despite nearing the end of the year, a grant award of $4,500 was authorized for inclusion into the 2021 budget. A resolution was made for Mantua to submit the strategic plan for the Municipal Alliance grant for the 2022-2023 program year.
The final resolution allowed the committee to move into a closed session to discuss fair share housing.
The next township committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. in the municipal building. It will be the first meeting after election day.
