Haddonfield Middle School teacher gains tech education award

Licorish recognized for being a leader in teaching digital skills.

By demonstrating an unparalleled success for integrating tech education into their classroom and providing their students with 21st century skills, BSD Education would like to congratulate New Jersey teacher Deb Licorish for being a 2021 CARE Award winner.

While all educators have faced a variety of unique challenges this past year, Deb, a teacher at Haddonfield Middle School, has persevered by being a true leader in tech education and as a result has been awarded the Resilience award.

“During this past year of meeting challenges with remote classes due to the pandemic, BSD has been my saving grace,” said Licorish. “I’m still remote and I can’t do those hands-on things, but I get just as much buy in from my students while using the BSD program that my year has been fabulous.”

BSD Education is an international education partner that designs, develops and delivers programs of learning for digital skills, empowering teachers to bring real-world technology education to every classroom regardless of experience or subject taught.

“The 2021 CARE Award winners embody what it means to be a true leader in the classroom by equipping their students with valuable digital skills using real coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript,” said Nickey Khemchandani, BSD CTO and Co-Founder.

“Not only have these teachers used BSD and tech education to keep their students engaged during a challenging year, they have also provided them with skills they will be able to use for their future success.”

CARE award winners represent a diverse group of teachers with different backgrounds and experiences. Each exemplifies one or more of BSD’s four foundational characteristics known as CARE: they are Curious, Adaptable, Resilient, and Empathetic.
