Lovisa Debuts at Cherry Hill Mall With Macy’s Staying Put

Another famous international brand has joined the growing roster at Cherry Hill Mall.

Global, fashion-forward jewelry brand Lovisa opened its doors at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at South Jersey’s premiere mall.

On its website, Lovisa states it “was created out of a need for on-trend fashion jewelry at ready-to-wear prices.”

In other words, trendy yet affordable is Lovisa’s mantra, as well as hands-on customer service and fast delivery, with 150 new styles delivered to its stores each week.

And there are a lot of stores. After launching the first Lovisa store in April 2010, the brand is now available in over 45 countries and has more than 900 stores worldwide.

Lovisa’s mission statement on its website: “To bring brilliantly affordable, on-trend jewelry to the world, whilst delighting our customers with our commitment to continually improve your Lovisa experience.”

Among its perks: Lovisa stylists are stationed in every store, offering expert advice on current trends and styling techniques and sharing personalized tips with customers.

Cherry Hill Mall owner PREIT said Lovisa is just the latest international brand with a global footprint to enter the mall in the last few years.

Others include:

  • Modern lifestyle clothing brand Oak + Fort, which has 30-plus studios across North America.
  • Luxury label Lacoste, famous for its polo shirts, with stores throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and Asia.
  • Japanese fast fashion retailer Uniqlo, which has stores in Asia, Europe, North America, Australia, and India.
  • Mango, a Spanish clothing retailer, with stores in over 115 markets worldwide, including Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and South America.
  • Exclusive women’s designer fashion retailer Marc Cain, which has stores in 28 markets, including Canada and Europe, and has a strong online presence.

“Adding Lovisa to Cherry Hill Mall reflects PREIT’s strategic approach to attracting internationally recognized brands, demonstrating the company’s commitment to diversifying its retail portfolio with unique, global retail concepts,” said a PREIT representative.

While welcoming the new retailer, PREIT also confirmed that mall anchor Macy’s at Cherry Hill Mall and Moorestown Mall will not be affected by the recent announcement of impending store closures nationally.

Earlier this month, on Jan. 9, Macy’s, Inc. announced it was shuttering 66 “underproductive” stores as part of a multi-year turnaround plan. The plan is to shrink its footprint and boost the company’s sagging stock.

PREIT issued this statement to The Sun Papers on Macy’s fate at its South Jersey properties:

“PREIT is not impacted by any Macy’s locations on the recently announced closure list. Our properties are designed to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing retail landscape. By curating diverse tenant mixes and leveraging opportunities to reimagine spaces, we ensure that our portfolio remains well-positioned to deliver value to our customers and communities.”

But across the border in Pennsylvania, four Macy’s are on the closure list: The Macy’s at Logan Valley Mall in Altoona; at Exton Square Mall in Exton; in Center City Philadelphia’s iconic Wanamaker Building at 1300 Market Street, and Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre.

Last November PREIT announced it was under contract to sell Exton Square Mall to Abrams Realty & Development, which has plans for a mixed-use project for the property.

The Macy’s at the Essex Green Shopping Center in West Orange is the only one in New Jersey shuttering.
