Mayor Michael Mignogna tests positive for COVID-19

Following diagnosis, Mayor hopes residents continue to take social distancing guidelines and additional health precautions seriously

Voorhees Township Deputy Mayor Michelle Nocito announced Thursday, April 9 that Mayor Michael Mignogna has tested positive for COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus.

“The last few weeks have been very challenging for our community and many other communities across the great state of New Jersey,” Nocito said. “The last 24 hours have been increasingly challenging for many of us here on Voorhees Township Committee.”

According to Nocito, Mignogna is under the care of his personal doctor and the township will continue to share updates on Mignogna’s recovery as time progresses. She also said Mignogna wanted to share the fact that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in order to remind residents of the importance of social distancing.

“The Mayor thought it was especially important to share these updates with the public so that everyone understands the seriousness of this virus but also continues to respect the social distancing guidelines from the CDC and observe Gov. Phil Murphy’s executive order,” Nocito said.

Nocito stated that despite being diagnosed, the township will continue to run effectively and looks forward to a speedy recovery for the Mayor.

“We will maintain continuity in government and township services and we are committed to continuing to deliver daily updates,” Nocito added. “We all look forward to the Mayor providing these updates himself and we ask that the entire Voorhees family keep him in your prayers so that he may have a swift and healthy recovery.”
