Washington Township’s iconic Stone House, recently named to the National Registry of Historic Sites, will again be the center of a historically centered festival for the family on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
This year’s Harvest Fest with feature the popular Civil War re-enactment troupe with muskets and cannon fire. The 27th North Carolina will camp on the grounds of the village from Friday night through Saturday.
The historic commission expects more than 500 people to attend the festival and will have a variety of experiences to choose from including demonstrations of open-hearth cooking, blacksmithing, candle making and other historic crafts. Families can have their picture taken in Colonial costume, take a hay ride or paint pumpkins.
Becks’ Civil War Band will play at 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo, and a show of quilting and the Underground Railroad will be held at the church at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.. Food trucks and vendors will also be on the grounds.
