Two Deptford Township residents received outstanding achievement awards at the graduation of the 54th Basic Police Class of the Gloucester County Police Academy on Wednesday, July 10, in the Physical Education Center on the campus of Rowan College of South Jersey.
Robert J. Shisler was presented with the Physical Training Award at the event, while John S. Bittner received the Firearms Award along with Jovanni R. Briones of Vineland.
On July 10, 26 men and four women graduated with fanfare and good wishes, marking the completion of their 19-week training session. Police Academy Director Fred H. Madden welcomed guests, along with senior law enforcement professionals and college officials. RCSJ Board of Trustees Chairperson Gene J. Concordia provided opening remarks before a keynote address was delivered by Chief Thomas Ryan of the Woodbury Police Department. Following the presentation of diplomas, achievement awards were presented to the graduates.
The total of 30 graduates represent Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.  The Gloucester County Police Academy operates as an autonomous unit within the RCSJ’s Division of Law and Justice.
