Richard Paulding Meehan of The Evergreens in Moorestown died peacefully on April 5 at the age of 89. Dick was predeceased by his wife Marianne of 63 years. Dick was a devoted father to Rich Meehan and his wife Sue, Doug Meehan and Scott Meehan. He was a loving PopPop to Mary Kate and her husband Kevin, Jack and his wife Deb, Mike, Kelly, Shannon and Shannah Matecun and her husband Ian.
Dick was a Korean War Army veteran, executive at Johnson & Johnson and retired Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In retirement, Dick volunteered with several community service groups. He provided consulting to entrepreneurs through Burlington County College, provided job planning at United States Air Force bases through AARP, provided Medicare billing assistance to seniors and offered career counseling to vets at McGuire Air Force Base. He served as a docent for 12 years at the New Jersey State House in Trenton and especially enjoyed giving tours to school children.
Dick enjoyed golf at the Moorestown Field Club, especially with his grandchildren and his fellow seniors. He was very active at The Evergreens. He served as the first resident representative on the Board of Trustees, presented annual Veteran’s Day programs and led the effort to build a putting green. He authored two books to showcase his fellow residents: “Veterans Briefs” and “Art at the Evergreens” and wrote an article “Are you Ready?” to share the decision process that he and Marianne went through before moving into The Evergreens.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12 at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorestown. A visitation will take place prior from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home on Main Street in Moorestown. A private interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Moorestown.
