Special to The Sun
Hi my name is Betty Jewell and I am president of the Delran Seniors Club. I would like to invite anyone age 55 and older to come out to our monthly meeting. It is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 939 Bridgeboro St. in Delran.
Many people ask, what we do at our meetings? Each month we try to have a speaker or some kind of entertainment that would appeal to our age group. This past month we had someone speak to us on chronic pain self-management. Everyone enjoyed it and we will now be doing a six-week course which includes ways to help us with these issues.
At our next meeting on April 9, we will be having a guitarist and singer to entertain us during the meeting.
Each month as we enjoy social time while having our lunch, I have come to realize how very important this is to those who attend. During the meeting we announce birthdays and give out a few prizes and usually I make the others laugh by telling a few “senior” jokes.
Twice during the year we go on a bus trip. This month we will be going to Site and Sound to see the show “Jesus” and have lunch at Shady Maple. Then in the fall we we will attend a show called “Ovation” at the American Music Theatre and have lunch at Good & Plenty Family Style Restaurant.
Then in December, we have our annual Christmas Party with food, entertainment and dancing.
We hope you will consider joining us. The cost to join is $5 a year and $5 at each meeting which includes lunch. Our trips are very reasonable taking into consideration our seniors’ budgets.
If you have a question, please call me at (856) 461-2767.
Thank you and hope to see you at our next meeting.
