Registration open for next round of classes in Evesham’s Junior Police Academy

The deadline for applications is April 1. Classes run in July.

The Evesham Township Police Departments’ Junior Police Academy is now accepting applications for classes No. 10 and No. 11.

These classes will mark the department’s fifth annual Junior Police Academy day camp.

As in past years, the academy will cover a multitude of topics including, motor vehicle law, DWI enforcement, crime scene and evidentiary processing, active shooter scenarios, a police K-9 demonstration, firearms safety and demonstrations from various agencies related to law enforcement.

Each morning will also begin with an hour of physical fitness training and military drill.

The department will have two separate academy weeks.

The first week will be held July 8 to July 12, and the second week will be held July 23 to July 27.

The academy will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each week, with recruits only permitted to attend one week of the academy.

Spots are limited to 20 students per class, and those spots will be filled as the applications are submitted and approved by department staff.

There is no cost for the program, but all recruits must be accepted through the application process.

Applications will be available at the Evesham Township Police Department between the hours of 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The applications are also available for download at www.eveshampd.org.

The deadline for applications is April 1.

The follow are qualifications / requirements for all potential applicants:

  • Must be a resident of Evesham Township
  • Must be in middle school or going into middle school in the fall (current fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth grade students)
  • Must be recommended by a sponsor (principal, guidance department, law enforcement agency, a community representative, coach, etc.)
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must be able to participate in physical fitness activities (push ups, sit-ups, light calisthenics, etc.)
  • Must be able to participate in a structured program
  • Have no criminal background or disciplinary problems which may preclude him/her from successful participation in the academy
  • Attendance is mandatory for the duration of the program (five days)
