Autumn officially arrived on Saturday, Sept. 22. Some of the leaves have begun to change color, but my deck is covered with those who have fallen without sharing their beauty. What do you think the new season will offer us?
Wine Glass Painting is back on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. Worried about your skill? In the worlds of the late, great Bob Ross, “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” This popular class is currently filled but call the library to be put on the waitlist.
We are pleased to welcome 2018 Pulitzer Prize nominee David Steinberg, who was nominated by the International Writers and Artists Association for his 2014 work “My Enemy in the Mirror.” This poem was translated into Arabic and published in the magazine “28” in Gaza, earning the distinction of being both the first Jewish American poet to be afforded that honor. Steinberg will discuss his work and how seeing within ourselves, ‘looking at the enemy in the mirror’ can not only help bridge conflict between bitter enemies raised upon generations of hatred, but differences we have in our everyday lives and interactions.
For anyone and everyone in the family, stop in the Pinelands Library every Saturday in October to pick up a clue sheet for the Main Street Scavenger Hunt. The clues will lead you to participating businesses giving stickers to complete your hunt. Return your sheet to the to the library to be entered into a raffle to win a prize basket! Scavenger hunt will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday.
On Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. teens and families will be fascinated as Jeff Ryan discusses his new book “A Mouse Divided,” a fascinating behind the scenes look at the early days of the Walt Disney Company and how Ub Iwerks helped shape the House of Mouse. Ryan will have animations, anecdotes, and will be available to sign his work after the program.
Adults and seniors will enjoy creating unique artwork on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Pages from old books will be used to create an original poem. All supplies will be provided for this “Blackout Poetry” craft.
