Haddonfield named one of New Jersey’s safest cities

Reaches top 20 in recently released survey

According to a survey released on Monday, Sept. 24 by SafeWise, an independent review website, Haddonfield came in at №19 among its top 50 safest towns in the state of New Jersey. The borough clocked in just ahead of Westwood, located in Bergen County and just behind Montgomery Township, situated in Somerset County.

To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2016 FBI crime statistics and population data. Our evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery) in each city per 1000 people. If there was a tie, we also factored in the number of property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and car theft).

New Jersey’s 50 safest towns logged violent crime rates at least 92 percent below the national average. Meanwhile, property crime rates averaged 74 percent less than the national rate, according to Tamarra Kemsley, SafeWise analyst.
