Evesham Fire-Rescue reminds residents to only engage in legal fireworks use and to do so safely

Residents are also reminded that fireworks, even the now-legal ones, will not be permitted to be used at Evesham Township-sponsored events.

The following information comes from Evesham Fire-Rescue:

Evesham Fire-Rescue is reminding residents that in June of last year, New Jersey State Law was amended to allow for the sale and possession of certain fireworks.

According to the Fire-Rescue, the law now permits the storage, retail sales and use of sparkling devices and novelties by the public 16 years of age or older.

With that, Fire-Rescue says sparkling devices and novelties are defined as wood sticks or wire sparklers; hand held or ground based sparkling devices which are non-explosive and non-aerial, which may produce a crackling or whistling effect and snakes and glow worms, smoke devices, and trick noisemakers, which include party poppers, snappers and drop pops.

Evesham Fire-Rescue is reminded residents that if they choose to engage in fireworks use, do so safely.

According to the Fire-Rescue, sparklers and other pyrotechnics can burn in excess of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and those extreme temperatures can cause third degree burns and ignite other combustible materials.

For those who choose to attend any Evesham Township sponsored events, Evesham Fire-Rescue is also reminded residents that fireworks, even the now-legal ones, will not be permitted to be used in the event setting.
