Federal inspection and arrests after residents alert Evesham Police to underage tobacco sales

Police accompanied agents from the U.S Treasury Department to the to conduct a compliance inspection at the Valero Food Mart on Route 70.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On June 22, the Evesham Township Police Department accompanied agents from the U.S Treasury Department to the Valero Food Mart located at 771 W. Route 70 to conduct a compliance inspection of their tobacco products.

This inspection was requested by the Evesham Police Department following information police received from residents regarding store employees allegedly selling vaping products to underage customers.

According to police, the compliance inspection by the Treasury Department was completed without incident, and no infractions were discovered.

However, police say Evesham Officers were deployed to the area to monitor store activity.

Officers assigned to the detail over the next few weeks arrested the following:

A male store employee, age 30, of Marlton, for sale of tobacco to minors.

A male, age 18, of Mt. Laurel, for possession of marijuana and violation of the Evesham Township Tobacco Ordinance.

A male, age 18, of Mt. Laurel, for possession of marijuana and violation of the Evesham Township Tobacco Ordinance.

A juvenile male, age 16, of Mt. Laurel, for possession of marijuana and violation of the Evesham Township Tobacco Ordinance.
