Cherokee High School seniors Sophia Eick and Jack Walters were recently honored as Olympic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award Winners.
Cherokee High School seniors Sophia Eick and Jack Walters were recently honored as Olympic Conference Scholar-Athlete Award Winners.
Eick is a three-sport athlete who participates in cross country, indoor track and field and spring track and field. She was named second team Girls Cross Country All-Conference as a sophomore and first team Girls Cross Country All-Conference as both a junior and senior.
Eick also held the title of captain of the cross-country team this past fall.
She is actively involved at Cherokee as a member of Students Movement against Cancer, Together for Autism Research, Renaissance and team captain for Relay for Life. Academically, Sophia has a weighted GPA of 5.5 out of a 6.0 scale. Eick will be attending Delaware University in the fall where she will major in nursing.
Walters is a two-sport athlete who participates in football and baseball. He was named second team Baseball All-Conference and first team Football All-Conference. Walters was also a member of the NJFCA 100 All-State Football Team in 2017, named to the All-Burlington County Football Team and received The Burlington County Scholar-Athlete award.
He is actively involved in Cherokee and the Evesham community as a member of Peer Leaders, Marlton Sports Unity Buddy Basketball, Cherokee Connection, a participant in Relay for Life and President of the Meteorology Club.
Academically, Jack is a member of the National Honor Society and has a weighted GPA of 5.95 out of a 6.0 scale and is ranked seventh in a class of 538 seniors.
Walters will be attending Johns Hopkins University in the fall where he will major in bio-medical engineering and will continue his baseball career.
