Pirate Players set to perform “Once Upon a Mattress”

Catch a show at Cinnaminson Middle School Auditorium this February and March

If you thought you knew the story of ‘The Princess and The Pea,’ you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you’ll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

Cinnaminson Middle School Pirate Players will present “Once Upon A Mattress” on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m., Feb. 24 at 8 p.m., Feb. 25 at 2 p.m., March 2 at 8 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. All shows will be at the Cinnaminson Middle School Auditorium, 312 N. Forklanding Road in Cinnaminson, NJ. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $5 for students, $8 for adults and free for senior citizens.

The Drama Club has a special offer for their performance on Saturday, Feb. 24. In lieu of buying a ticket, guests may bring in non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Palmyra. The pantry is in particular need of items such as afterschool snacks and varied side dishes. Since the school is a part of the community, it is crucial to teach these students about the importance of giving back, and the joy of live theatre. The show is double-casted and includes 60+ students between the two casts and crew.

Come on out and support these fine young students as they bring “Once Upon A Mattress” to life.
