District officials dive deeper into potential Cherry Hill school bond referendum projects

The Cherry Hill Board of Education got a look at the many projects the school district could include as part of its planned 2018 bond referendum at its committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday. Assistant Superintendent for Business Lynn Shugars and district architect John Middleton presented a long list of potential projects to the board. The presentation went in greater detail than past presentations as it analyzed individual schools and school-specific projects.

Luke Martine, 5, loves to play basketball and swim. He also spends a lot of time with his two best friends, Johnny and Collin. Luke isn’t an ordinary 5-year-old boy, however. Shortly after his birth, Luke was diagnosed with a life-threatening and rare disease called Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome, a disorder that affects respiratory control and autonomic nervous system regulation, primarily during sleep.

Mandarin Chinese, AP Research among the new courses to be offered in Cherry Hill high schools next year

Cherry Hill Public Schools is making a few additions to the high school course book for the 2018–19 school year. Three new courses and two new partnerships with local colleges will be added next school year. The new classes will be Chinese I, AP Research and AP Computer Science Principles. Students will also be able to earn dual credits thanks to new partnerships with Rowan College at Burlington County and Stockton University.

Camden County veterans honored on Pearl Harbor anniversary

A Cherry Hill resident was one of a number of veterans honored at the Battleship New Jersey last week. Cherry Hill resident, Perry “Jonny” Levine, an officer of the Jewish War Veterans Post 126, received the Reverend Peter A. Molnar Award for outstanding service and commitment to Camden County veterans. He received the award during Camden County’s annual Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration ceremony on Tuesday morning.

Education Week to feature Cherry Hill Superintendent Joe Meloche in special feature

Cherry Hill Public Schools Superintendent Joe Meloche will be honored in February by the magazine Education Week. Meloche will be profiled in the upcoming 2018 edition of Leaders To Learn From, the magazine’s annual special report that spotlights innovative school district leaders around the nation. A full profile highlighting Meloche’s contributions to the school district will be featured in the publication.
