Construction on Coles Road in Cherry Hill to pause until the end of winter

Camden County decided to halt the improvements project on Coles Road due to overnight temperatures now dropping below freezing.

Due to overnight temperatures reaching points below freezing, the improvements project on Coles Road in Cherry Hill will pause until the beginning of spring. Crews have been making various improvements to the stretch of roadway between Route 38 and the county line at the border of Burlington County since Oct. 10.

“This project has included working with new and existing concrete and asphalt surfaces, but the freezing conditions of the winter months make continuing that work extremely difficult,” said Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “For this reason, a request to suspend the project until sometime in March or April of 2018, has been approved.”

The approximately $600,000 project will mill and pave the roadway, improve handicap ramps, install a concrete vertical curb, improve storm water drainage, and more. The project was originally to be completed by the end of January, and will now be extended to an undetermined date in 2018.

Scheduling is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen variables. For questions or to report a problem, contact the Department of Public Works by calling (856) 566–2980.
