“My entire adult life has been about service of others and giving back.”
Donald Brauckmann has called Cinnaminson Township his home since 1993 and has served the community in a variety of capacities. The 47-year-old Willingboro native moved in with his wife, Michelle, who is a life-long Cinnaminson resident, after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years in North Carolina.
Brauckmann graduated Holy Cross High School in 1988 before taking various credits at Burlington County College and the Burlington County Police Academy.
“I worked with the Cinnaminson Police Department for 10 years from 1994 to 2004,” Brauckmann said. “I was also our first school resource officer. I worked in that position from 1999 to 2004. Being our SRO was the most rewarding position I held while with the department, where I still maintain very strong relationships with many of the students, parents and school employees that I was involved with over 15 years ago.”
Brauckmann was also elected and served on Cinnaminson’s school board from 2006 to 2009. He served on various sports boards in the township, and also was the township’s Parks & Recreation director for five of his six years on township committee.
In 2010, he joined the Cinnaminson Township Committee and is in the second year of his third term.
“I also served as deputy mayor in 2011 and was mayor in 2012,” Brauckmann said. “Since high school when I joined JROTC, my entire adult life has been about service of others and giving back. I have a profound sense of patriotism so that’s why I joined the USMC to serve my country, and wanted to continue to serve my community as a police officer.”
Brauckmann has helped in many of Cinnaminson’s park upgrades, such as children’s play areas, concession stands, restrooms, sports fields, concert stages and more. Along with all of that, Brauckmann still looks back to a huge project at Memorial Park as the best he’s ever worked on.
“My favorite was our Memorial Walk at Memorial Park project,” Brauckmann said. “After being discussed at numerous township meetings for almost a year, this project finally happened, and the finished project is a wonderful dedication and memorial for our residents to enjoy for many years to come.”
Outside of his countless meetings in the township, Brauckmann is busy both in the community and in his family life.
“I umpire baseball and softball, work out regularly with my wife Michelle, and keep in daily contact with my children, one who is on active duty in our military and the other who is a junior at college,” Brauckmann said. “We recently purchased a Jeep, so I am thoroughly enjoying Jeep life too. Honestly speaking, I am at the happiest place in my life that I can remember and feel that life will continue to improve in the coming years.”
