Perkins Center for the Arts receives Horizon Foundation grant

The Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown received a grant in the second round of Horizon Foundation awards for 2017.

The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey awarded $924,000 in a second round of grants to 21 non-profit organizations for health and cultural programs. To date, The Foundation — which is the philanthropic arm of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) — has awarded 40 grants in 2017, totaling over $1.6 million.

The Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown received a grant in the second round of awards for 2017. Perkins received a $20,000 general operating support grant to fund a free concert series, which will assist the center’s efforts to eliminate financial barriers to the arts in South Jersey. Concerts will range in theme and will highlight the connection between teaching and performance.

“Improving the quality of life and health for individuals, families and communities we serve is core to our mission,” said Robert A. Marino, Horizon BCBSNJ Chairman and CEO and Chairman of the Horizon Foundation. “The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey is proud to support non-profit organizations and their programs that help make our state a better place to live.”

Since its inception in 2004, The Foundation has awarded 1,360 grants totaling $49.5 million.
