Pinelands Preservation Alliance hosting juried photo exhibit on Pinelands National Reserve

Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to apply. There will be $1,000 in cash prizes offered.

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance has been working with a volunteer committee of professional and amateur photographers to host a juried photography exhibit focused on the Pinelands National Reserve.

The exhibit will hang in PPA’s newly renovated barn at its headquarters in Southampton from Nov. 4 to Jan. 3.

An opening reception will be held Nov. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Photographs must be black and white and color images taken within the boundaries of the National Reserve depicting its landscape, flora, wildlife, communities and people.

Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to apply.

There will be $1,000 in cash prizes offered.

The deadline for registration is Sept. 29.

Registration information is available at www.pinelandsalliance.org or http://bit.ly/ppaphoto2017.

Photographers are welcome to submit up to three images for $25 and $5 for each additional image up to a maximum of ten total submissions.

For students 22 years of age and younger, entries are free if they provide proof of current student status by emailing a copy of their student ID with their submission.

Submission Categories are: Landscape, Flora, Wildlife, People in Nature, Communities in the Pine Barrens (including Architecture) and Open Student (up to age 22).

“The Pinelands is a beautiful and under-appreciated area of our state. This exhibit provides a vehicle to bring people into the Pinelands and display their artistic creations of this lovely part of New Jersey. I am honored to work with the PPA to protect and highlight the Pinelands,” said PPA committee chair Christopher Kosseff. “Some areas scream to be photographed, having towering peaks or dramatic wildlife. The Pinelands is gentle and reserved — giving the photographer the opportunity to craft a photograph that speaks to its quiet beauty.”

Images will be judged by Bill Horin, founder and creative director of ArtC and a professional photographer headquartered in Linwood.
