Cherry Hill East girls soccer 2017 season preview
Last season: The Cougars finished the season with a record of 3–14–1, picking up wins against Paul VI, Winslow and Bishop Eustace. The team did not participate in the playoffs.
Returning players: Senior goalkeeper Samantha Bourne, and senior backs Nicole Hammerquist and Kayla DeGuzman will anchor the defense for Cherry Hill East. Twin sister and juniors Lexi and Ronnie Schaffer are expected to play big roles with the team. Sophomores Bella Rossetti and Carly Nothnagel are also key returners.
New players to watch: Two freshmen who could possibly make a contribution this season are Jill Drumm and MaryKate McCurdy.
Key games: Head coach Lee Troutman believes every game will be important for this rebuilding program. The team’s season opening game on Sept. 5 against Clearview Regional High School will be a good indicator of where the team stands.
Season outlook: Troutman said the team had a good camp with mostly freshmen players prior to the start of preseason. The team looks to continue rebuilding its program to its past level in 2017.
