Community comes together for the Pine Barrens Festival

Tabernacle’s Holy Eucharist Church held its 29th annual Pine Barrens Festival last week to celebrate the church and the communities of Tabernacle, Shamong, Indian Mills, Medford, Medford Lakes, Vincetown, Southampton and Chatsworth Woodland.

“It is something that the church really enjoys very much,” Holy Eucharist Pastor Andrew Jamieson said. “It brings the community together — not only the Holy Eucharist community — but it brings the larger community together to experience a great night of fun and food and entertainment.”

Tabernacle Township Committee tables ordinance creating Department of Public Safety

The Tabernacle Township Committee tabled an ordinance to create and designate a department of public safety and a position of public safety director at the committee meeting on July 24.

Additionally, the head of the Department of Public Safety, called public safety director, would be appointed by the committee.

Pinelands Preservation Alliance accuses New Jersey Natural Gas of violating “rules to protect the Pinelands National Reserve”

The Pinelands Preservation Society (PPA) has accused New Jersey Natural Gas for violating rules that protect the Pinelands National Reserve with the proposal of its Southern Reliability Link Pipeline in a recent press release.

The release stated the following:

The SRL violates the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP) and sets a precedent that threatens the future of the Pinelands protection program. The CMP only permits infrastructure like gas pipelines within the Joint Base, if it is “associated with the function” of the facility and avoids the Preservation Area to the maximum extent possible. This pipeline is not associated with the function of the base, but merely runs through the Base and Preservation Area to a connection point outside of it.
