I think the November election has caused many of us to think about politics a bit differently.
For some, it may be an increased awareness of issues that affect us at a national, state or local level. For others, it may be increased activism in the form of marches, contacting our representatives, attending huddles and action meetings. For a few, it is seeking political office.
On Tuesday, April 4, I had the privilege to attend the official campaign announcement for Dr. Jennifer Chuang for District 7 Assembly. I was inspired by her personal narrative, impressed with her professional resume, and excited by her decision to enter the political arena. It is so rare that a pediatric physician decides to run for public office, but Jennifer felt called to do just that after the November election. What a great opportunity we have to elect a candidate that brings such a unique perspective when making decisions for the people of New Jersey!
As a teacher and mother, education issues are at the forefront of my voting decisions. Jennifer is in favor of ending the PARCC graduation requirement, fully funding the teachers’ pension, and she supports fully funding the 2008 School Funding Reform Act which would greatly benefit Moorestown Township Public Schools with regards to the state money it receives.
Jennifer is a lifelong resident of Moorestown and proud to be the product of the great Moorestown Township Public School system. Having gotten to know Jennifer better over the recent months, I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. I encourage her Moorestown community members to get to know her better as well, check out her platform, ask her questions directly. She is amazingly accessible via her campaign Facebook page. Her candidacy is a grassroots one well worth supporting!
