Students tackle sustainability issues in Cherry Hill Township’s annual Student Government Day

Juniors from Cherry Hill High Schools East and West converged on Cherry Hill Town Hall Wednesday as part of the township’s annual Student Government Day event. This year’s program focused on sustainability, with the students coming up with ways to have residents take alternative transportation to Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival in April and better promote the township’s sustainability efforts long-term.

Cherry Hill Township Planning Board approve Baker Lanes redevelopment plan

On Monday, the Cherry Hill Township Planning Board approved a redevelopment plan for the former site of the Baker Lanes Bowling Center on Cuthbert Boulevard. Advanced Recovery Systems has plans to move to the site. Township officials hope the plan to transform the Baker Lanes site sets the tone for future redevelopment in the township.

No tax increase in Cherry Hill Fire District №13’s proposed budget

On Feb. 18, Cherry Hill voters can head to the polls to vote in Cherry Hill Fire District №13’s annual election. The proposed budget on the ballot includes no tax increase for the sixth consecutive year. Residents will also have the opportunity to choose two members on the Cherry Hill Board of Fire Commissioners.

Cherry Hill East senior accepts appointment to the United States Naval Academy

Cherry Hill High School East senior Tyler Parsons wanted to go the extra mile with his education after high school. He decided to apply to the United States Naval Academy. A few weeks ago, Parsons received the news that he had officially received an appointment after months of going through the application process. Parsons is looking forward to developing as a leader and serving his country in the Navy.

Cherry Hill Public Schools releasing more lead testing results

Last week, Cherry Hill Public Schools released the results of water testing in its schools from the months of December and January. In the schools tested during those months, 14 water sources tested above the Environmental Protection Agency’s limit for lead of 15 parts per billion. In November, the school district released a district-wide water remediation plan to combat lead in its water sources.
