Tabernacle man arrested for 2016 Lumberton homicide

A Tabernacle man was arrested for a 2016 Lumberton homicide. William M. Gennett of Tabernacle was charged with first-degree murder and fourth-degree stalking. The 53-year-old is accused of strangling Shannon O’Rourke.

Tabernacle Athletic Association accepting applications for Sean Clegg Memorial College Scholarship

The Tabernacle Athletic Association announced that is it accepting applications for the Clegg Memorial College Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a participant who played in the program and meets all of the eligibility requirements. The deadline for applications is March 15.

Upcoming snow storm causes school closings

Winter Storm Niko came through Tabernacle and disrupted schools and businesses. The Tabernacle School District was closed Thursday due to the snowstorm. The National Weather Service said that Tabernacle received 1.5 inches of snow.
