After hours of discussion, Cherry Hill East to perform “Ragtime” as written
Cherry Hill Public Schools made a decision on Friday afternoon to reverse its previous stance on Cherry Hill High School East’s production of “Ragtime.” After originally stating on Jan. 20 the show would not include the N-word, district officials announced on Friday the show would be performed as written. This came after hours of passionate discussion on the subject at last Tuesday’s Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting.
Cherry Hill East seniors bring Women’s March to their school
Cherry Hill High School East senior Ezra Nugiel was moved after attending the Women’s March on Washington, D.C., on Jan. 21. He was so moved; he decided to organize an event at his high school. Together with senior Kaitlyn Boyle, Nugiel organized the Women’s March on Cherry Hill East, where students wore pink t-shirts to support equality in their community and around the world.
Marshall Spevak, Alan Braslow awarded 2017 Camden County Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Medal
Last week, the Cherry Hill Sun began a mini-series profiling the four Cherry Hill residents who won the 2017 Camden County Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Medal. Spevak was honored for his work with veterans and active military personnel. Braslow received the medal for his dedication to animal activism.
Cherry Hill Police searching for credit card fraud suspect
On Monday evening, Cherry Hill Police released the surveillance photo of a man who is thought to have committed credit card fraud at the Kicks USA shore store inside the Cherry Hill Mall. The incident occurred on Dec. 27. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Cherry Hill Police.
Mayor’s Message: Cherry Hill Township to promote Roadmap on social media
In this week’s Mayor’s Message, Cherry Hill Township Mayor Chuck Cahn announced the township would tie in initiatives and local events with its Roadmap to the Future with a social media campaign. The township will be using the #CHRoadmap on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram throughout the upcoming year. The campaign will call greater attention to the Roadmap’s programs.
