Volunteer Center of Burlington County seeks nominations for community service award

Only a few days remain to submit a nomination. The public is encouraged to recommend individuals with records of service and volunteerism.

Only a few days remain to submit a nomination to the Volunteer Center of Burlington County for nominees for its annual Lloyd Ritter Community Service Award.

The public is encouraged to submit the names of individuals who deserve to be honored because of their outstanding records of community service and volunteerism.

Volunteer Center President Kimberly Mattson said this is the only the second time that the public has been actively asked to participate in the nomination process. Once again, the Center is prepared to honor as many as three deserving individuals at its annual awards dinner scheduled for spring 2017.

“Public participation in the nomination process resulted in a wonderful success story last year,” Mattson said. “We honored a high school guidance counselor who taught students the value of community service by doing, a banker whose support of active military personnel raised the high bar for patriotism, and an insurance risk manager whose record of community service including activities at the local and state level.”

Mattson said Once again the center was seeking the public’s help in identifying those volunteers whose deeds deserve recognition, as Mattson said there are many unsung, low profile community activists who fall into such a caterogry.

“We are asking county residents to bring to our attention their neighbors, coworkers, and acquaintances they deem worthy of the Community Service Award, and take the time to provide us with some background information,” Mattson said.

The nomination form can be accessed at www.volunteercenterburlingtoncounty.org.

The form can be filled out and submitted electronically, or printed out and mail to: Volunteer Center of Burlington County, c/o Rowan College at Burlington County — Parker Center 413J, 601 Pemberton Browns Mills Road, Pemberton, NJ 08068.

Those seeking additional information can call (856) 894–9311, ext. 1492 or via email at volcenter@hotmail.com. Deadline for nominations is Nov. 30.
