The Evesham Township Police Department has named School Resource Officer Patrolman Brian Libetti the Evesham Police “Officer of the Month” for October.
Libetti has been a member of the Evesham Police Department for 16 years.
According to police, Libetti is being commended for his positive interaction with a Rice Elementary School student, compassion and commitment to making the township a better place.
The following is a letter the department received from a parent detailing Libetti’s impact on the student’s life:
“Since the beginning of the school year, Olivia cried every single morning…sometimes from the minute she opened her eyes.
As we walked towards thefront door of the building, often someone would have to take her from me as she sobbed in hysterics begging me to take her home. It was very hard for her to just get in the building.
One day, Officer Brian (as the kids call him) asked why she was upset. I explained she was afraid and didn’t really want to go to school.
This kind man asked Liv if he could walk her to class and she very willingly held his hand and he took her to her room. He chats with her and makes her feel comfortable and safe.
Since that day, almost a week and a half ago, every single morning he stands and says hello to all the children and greets Liv with a big good morning smile and takes her by the hand and walks her to her class. She has stopped crying completely and is always happy to see her new friend.
I am so very grateful for this police officer.”
