Come out and help support “Partners in Caring” to help feed the hungry in the region. Organized by Shop Rite of Medford located on Route 70, the 5K Race and one mile run will be held on Monday, Sept. 5, 8:30 a.m. for the run and 9 a.m. for the walk. More information can be found here.
In 2015 the Shop Rite of Medford was recognized for raising $25,532 for the Partners in Caring initiative. This year the goal is $30,000.
The start and finish location, rain or shine, will be the Medford Municipal Building located on Union Street. Cash prizes according to age groups will be awarded at 9:30 a.m.
Register online at www.sjtiming.com or drop off registration form at ShopRite of Medford. Fees are $25 for the run and $10 for the walk. Slightly higher fees are charged the day of the race. The race has become popular with regional companies who are sponsoring the event. The sponsors can be found online.
Right now the outreach is for individuals to run or walk the race, according to Renee Zallie, who owns the store with her husband.
ShopRite Partners In Caring is a year-round, community-based, hunger-fighting initiative that works with more than 50 food industry manufacturers to provide nearly $3 million annually to qualified charitable agencies in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Since its founding in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has donated nearly $40 million to more than 2,000 charities, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child care centers, battered women’s shelters, senior citizen programs and drug rehab centers.
