South Jersey Music Education Partnership (SJMEP) is once again offering beginner music lesson scholarships in partnership with the New Jersey School of Music. Scholarships are available on beginner flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet and trombone. This year they are extending the reach so that all Burlington and Camden County students entering fourth through eighthgrade are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Lessons will start the week of June 26and will end the week of August 28and will take place at the NJ School of Music in both the Cherry Hill and Medford locations.
There are approximately 200 scholarships available. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of scholarships available, scholarships will be awarded via a random drawing on June 15. Applications are now being accepted online at www.sjmep.org through the end of the day on June 14. Applicants will be notified on June 15as to whether they received a scholarship.
SJMEP is a 100 percent volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization that supports music education in South Jersey. Since 2012, SJMEP has awarded over 150 scholarships and have provided other educational opportunities such as mentorship, master classes, and performance opportunities. SJMEP is also the driving force behind the Pinelands Jazz Festival that is their annual fundraising event to support their initiatives.
