Rowan College at Burlington County recognized
Rowan College at Burlington County was recognized for excellence in the higher education industry, earning several honors for its educational offerings, affordability, and customer-friendly and student-centered designs.
“Rowan College at Burlington County is placing a greater priority on student success, creating a more modernized campus experience and establishing a clear path to a $30,000 bachelor’s degree in Burlington County,” said Rowan College at Burlington County President Paul Drayton. “It is nice to be recognized for all our efforts and helps to confirm that we are moving in the right direction for our students.”
The readers of two business-focused publications, SNJ Business People and South Jersey Biz magazine, voted and selected Rowan College at Burlington County the winners of the Higher Education Award and “best” in online education, respectively. SNJ Business People’s annual reader’s choice awards recognize community involvement, branding and visibility in the region. South Jersey Biz magazine says its annual Best of Biz awards offer the “chance to highlight those businesses that have found a way to excel.”
“We are at the forefront of reinventing the model of higher education and we are moving in a positive direction while many other colleges and universities are not evolving or offering students a solution to the affordability crisis in higher education today,” said Drayton.
Affordability earned RCBC a “Tuition Hero” designation for 2015. To earn the “Tuition Hero” badge, a college’s tuition and fees cannot exceed a 2.5 percent annual growth rate over four years. RCBC’s was 1 percent.
Another way RCBC is working to make college affordable is to provide a clear pathway indicating the specific courses students need for graduation and transfer. Because of his focus on creating efficient paths to completion, President Drayton earned an appointment to the American Association of Community College’s Commission on Structured Pathways.
“A key factor to make college more affordable and accessible is to provide to quickest path for students to achieve their goals,” President Drayton said. “I am eager to share what we are doing at Rowan College at Burlington County on the national level and learn best practices from my peers throughout the country.”
This year, the college has once again been cited for its military friendliness. U.S. Veterans Magazine named RCBC one of the nation’s “Top Veteran-Friendly Schools” for 2015.
“With the transition to Mount Laurel as the main campus, we want to assure our military families that we will continue to meet their needs,” Drayton said. “We will continue to operate our Education Center on the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and we have even offered to expand our programs at the Base if there is a demand.”
During times of major transformation, like RCBC’s, providing the community and students with easily accessible and clear information is of the utmost importance. This responsibility falls under the purview of RCBC’s Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications, which was recently honored by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR), a two-year college professional development organization, for its college viewbook (bcc.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=afc1a207549d60bc5fa0341a4&id=6057bbe7c3&e=7261cacf81) and website (bcc.us7.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=afc1a207549d60bc5fa0341a4&id=9cb5c58e17&e=7261cacf81) . The NCMPR District 1 (serves the Northeast, five Canadian provinces and the United Kingdom) Medallion Awards recognize excellence in community, technical and junior college marketing and public relations activities.
“Rowan College at Burlington County has a wonderful story and our marketing and communications team can effectively tell that story across a variety of media,” Drayton said. “We have a very talented team of professionals who do a great job of showcasing the college, our students, faculty and staff. It’s nice to see them receive well-deserved recognition.”
