Influential leaders in the Philadelphia region spent the last 10 weeks competing for the title of Man and Woman of the Year where they utilized their leadership abilities to conduct their own fundraising campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Every dollar counted as one vote.
The winners were announced at the Grand Finale on Saturday, June 13 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel. The night was a celebration of all 15 candidates’ collective efforts as they enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live and silent auctions, and dinner and dancing.
The 15 candidates collectively raised $364,425 on behalf of LLS Eastern PA. Hakop Kazandjian of Mt. Laurel earned the title of Man of the Year.
Money raised will benefit LLS’ mission to cure blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. This year’s fundraising is in honor of two patient heroes, the 2015 Boy and Girl of the Year are Cullen Jones of Devon, Pa. and Alana Gracia of Malvern, Pa.
“We are so grateful for the commitment and generosity of these 15 fine men and women who took a 10 week journey with us to challenge themselves to raise money for a lifesaving cancer research,” said Ellen Rubesin, the executive director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter.
