Fraud, vandalism top Mt. Laurel Police Blotter this week

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

A resident of Vassar Road reported that on March 26 he attempted to file his tax return only to find that someone had previously filed a fraudulent return in his name.

A resident of Foxcroft Way reported an unidentified subject fraudulently attempted to file federal tax return using the victim’s personal information.

A resident on the 100 block of Willow Turn reported someone broke the windshield on their vehicle sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. on March 29.

A resident of the 100 block of Eton Lane reported someone broke a window on their vehicle with a rock between 10 p.m., March 24 and 10 a.m., March 25.

A resident of Tolerance Court reported someone broke a rear window on her vehicle sometime on April 3 between 3 a.m. and noon.

A patron of the Funplex on Route 38 reported their iPhone 6, valued at $500, was taken after it was accidentally left unattended at the prize counter between 9:20 and 9:41 p.m. on March 27.

On March 28 at 1:30 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Ark Road at Coventry Way. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, a 35-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

Several residential and commercial properties had graffiti spray painted on them during the overnight hours of March 28 into March 29. The name “Chuck” and “Choom” were painted with black spray paint on some of the damaged properties.

A guest of the Homewood Suites on Nixon Drive reported someone punctured all four tires of their vehicle between 1:15 and 8:30 a.m. on March 28. Damage is estimated at $1,500.

On March 28 at 11:44 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Road in the area of Route 73. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 33-year-old man from Philadelphia. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released pending a court hearing.

On March 29 at 2:26 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fellowship Road near Church Road. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 23-year-old man from Pennsauken. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

On March 29 at 9:45 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Beaver Avenue. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 24-year-old man from Cherry Hill. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released pending a court hearing.

Sometime between March 28 and March 30 a hole was cut in the fence surrounding a construction site on the 4000 block of Church Road. Entry was then gained to a construction trailer by cutting a lock. Copper piping, valued at $250, was taken from the trailer.

On March 30 at 4:20 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Interstate-295. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 25-year-old man from Camden. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was found in possession of marijuana. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released pending a court hearing after posting bail.

On March 31 at 12:10 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Birmingham for shoplifting $280.82 in merchandise. He was also found in possession of a hypodermic needle. He was charged with shoplifting and possession of a hypodermic needle and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 100 block of Willow Turn reported someone made a fraudulent purchase using the victim’s credit card in the amount of $93.89 on March 30 in Utah.

On April 4 at 8:30 a.m. a 17-year-old township resident who was wanted for an aggravated assault turned himself in at Mt. Laurel Police Headquarters. The juvenile was arrested as a result of an investigation into an assault that took place at a residence on Camelia Lane on March 29. The 19-year-old victim of the assault sustained injuries that required medical treatment. The juvenile suspect was committed to the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.

On April 4 at 8:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Route 73 for a disturbance. During the investigation officers arrested 65-year-old man from Marlton. He provided a false identity to the investigating officers in an attempt to avoid being arrested for an outstanding criminal warrant. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension. He was transported to JFK Hospital after suffering a medical emergency during the investigation.

On April 4 at 10:45 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police located an occupied suspicious vehicle on East Daisy Lane. During the investigation officers arrested the two occupants, a 20-year-old man and 18-year-old man, both from Mt. Laurel. The 20-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and the 18-year-old was charged with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage. Both were released pending a court hearing.

On April 5 at 8 p.m.. Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation into suspicious activity at a hotel on Fellowship Road. As a result of the investigation officers arrested a 37-year-old woman from Riverside. She was charged with engaging in prostitution and released pending a court hearing.

On April 5 at 10 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation into suspicious activity at a hotel on Fellowship Road. As a result of the investigation officers arrested a 24-year-old woman from Holmdel. She was charged with engaging in prostitution and released pending a court hearing.
