The Seneca Jazz Band will make its triumphant return to the NJAJE State Finals this year. After qualifying during the preliminary round at Cherokee High School in early March, the band is preparing for the finals on April 26. The band will head to Princeton University after spring break for the competition.
“It is an honor to again be back up with the best bands in the state,” jazz band director Doug Barber said.
The band is coming off a successful season that saw seniors Nick Troy and Austin Romanuski win numerous awards. Romanuski will be continuing his study of jazz and recording at one of the most selective jazz programs in the country, William Patterson University.
