U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan will hone golf swing during Alzheimer’s Association’s 14th Annual Golf Classic

U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan will hone his golf swing during the Alzheimer’s Association’s 14th Annual Golf Classic May 5, and supporters of the fight against the nation’s sixth leading killer can join him on the links. This year’s tournament will be held at Trump National Golf Course-Philadelphia in Pine Hill, N.J.

For a contribution of $1,000 each, three golfers can join the congressman’s foursome for 18 holes, on a first-come, first-served basis. The donation, much of which is tax-deductible, also includes lunch, cocktails and dinner.

Runyan, who is not seeking reelection to Congress, has been personally touched by Alzheimer’s disease. Both he and his wife, Loretta, lost grandparents to the debilitating disease.

During the tournament, the Chapter will present radio personality, writer, and comic Big Daddy Graham with its 2014 Kaleidoscope Award for Community Service and Increased Awareness for his commitment to keeping a spotlight on Alzheimer’s disease, through his radio program and involvement in Chapter events.

Golf slots for the tournament are $425 for a single golfer, or $1,500 for a foursome. The fee, a portion of which is tax deductible, includes lunch, post-golf cocktails and buffet dinner. There will also be a silent auction featuring sports tickets, themed gift baskets and local dining and other experiences, and a live auction of pricier items throughout the evening.

A variety of sponsor opportunities are still available, ranging from $350 for Hole Sponsor to $10,000 for Tournament Sponsor. Many sponsorship levels include two or more golf slots.

Registration for the golf tournament begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and then shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Cocktails and dinner reception will immediately follow golf, and prizes will be awarded.

This year’s event also incorporates an ACBL-Sanctioned Bridge Tournament. Entry fee is $75, including lunch and beverages, and players will compete for a variety of prizes. Or, you can play with a professional for $300. Social players are welcome, and transportation from Philadelphia will be provided.
