Tickets on sale for Alice Paul Equality Awards gala

Six honorees will receive the 2014 Alice Paul Equality Awards at a gala Thursday, March 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Westin Mount Laurel, 555 Fellowship Rd., Mt. Laurel. The evening includes a cocktail reception with open bar, dinner and premium raffle drawings.

The awards honor individuals from any industry or field who capture the spirit of Alice Paul and as a consequence, either directly or indirectly, continue Alice’s mission of advancing women’s equality in America.

The 2014 honorees are Letitia G. Colombi, former mayor of Haddonfield; Carolyn Cook, president, United 4 Equality; Elaine Jacoby, of counsel, Duane Morris, LLP; Donna M. Massanova, partner and employee benefit plans practice leader, ParenteBeard, LLC; Dianne Mills McKay, chair, Council on Gender Parity in Labor and Education, New Jersey State Department of Labor and Workforce Development; and Patricia Teffenhart, executive director, New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault.

The Alice Paul Equality Awards are named in memory of Alice Stokes Paul. Born in Mt. Laurel, Alice Paul dedicated her life to the single cause of securing equal rights for all women. Alice Paul led the final campaign for women’s right to vote. After the 1920 victory, she authored the Equal Rights Amendment and initiated gender equality principles in both the United Nations Charter and in the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

The evening will be hosted by members of the Alice Paul Institute’s Girls Advisory Council and 2013 Equality honoree Wendy Johnson Lario, the chair of New Jersey Labor and Employment Practice at Greenburg Traurig LLP.

Tickets are $135, of which $63 is tax deductible. Proceeds benefit Alice Paul Institute programs. Early reservation is suggested for seating and table reservations. For information or to purchase tickets, contact the Alice Paul Institute at (856) 231–1885, or email [email protected].
